At this point it was time to redeem our fast passes for EXPEDITION EVEREST. We moved on to the MAHARAJAH JUNGLE TREK, a walk through tour of various jungle habitats that included Komodo dragons, fruit bats, Bengal tigers, deer, and other jungle animals. The ride itself was actually way too short and not worth the soaking. Somehow Nancy, Mark and Jake escaped with only minor wetness. This was a soaking that made the SPLASH MOUNTAIN incident look like a tiny splash. But then we headed for the downhill drop…unfortunately, Tom was facing backward when the raft dropped down….a big wave of water came up over the raft, over his shoulders and right down the slit in his poncho. The first 45 seconds of the ride was not too bad…we were getting splashed but the ponchos were protecting us. Tom’s poncho was slit down the front about a 18 inches, but he decided he would hold it closed. We were prepared for all of the “you may get soaked” warnings….we had brought our trusty ponchos from Epcot. Our next stop was KALI RIVER RAPIDS, a whitewater raft ride in which passengers are seated in big circular rafts.

We boarded the bus to Animal Kingdom and arrived 30 minutes before park opening.įirst task on the agenda….secure Fast Passes for EXPEDITION EVEREST….Mark ran to get them and then joined everyone for DINOSAUR, a very dark and creepy motion simulator ride that was unpredictable and scary. Breakfast at our favorite hangout….what will we do without a “second floor” when we get back home?. It is my hope that years from now Jake will share this video with HIS family and remember all of the fun we had during this special week:Ī beautiful day…high in the mid 70’s. It was so important for me to be part of this vaction with Nancy, Tom, and Jake and words can’t truly express my gratitude for the wonderful, exciting, exhausting, emotional experience that it was. However at several point during this whirlwind trip, I was reminded of a similar vacation 15 years earlier with another 6 year old….who knew at that point in time that we would return to Disney World years later with that little boy’s brother? As Nancy and I sat in the sun in Animal Kingdom waiting for Tom and Jake to join us after EXPEDITION EVEREST, we talked about how lucky we were to be able to go on this vacation….to be a family that enjoys spending time together. After hugs and kisses, we parted ways and returned to our respective homes.Ī trip to Disney World is not a relaxing vacation….you are constantly on the go. After the usual long wait in the Philadelphia airport for luggage, we called home….Baba and Pop Pop had been visiting with Steve and they drove to the airport to pick up the tired vacationers. We had truly been blessed with both of our airline experiences. The trip to the airport and the flight home were uneventful.

The Polynesian was a perfect place to stay. We walked down to the beach after breakfast to soak up our last rays of sunshine and warmer weather. This was also a Disney character breakfast and Jake was able to obtain autographs from several of the characters. It included sausage, bacon, potatoes, scrambled eggs, Mickey waffles, and of course, the delicious orange\mango\passionfruit drink that was available every day on our second floor. Breakfast was served family style at the OHANA restaurant in the lobby of the Polynesian.
